Meeting Minutes – July 2020

It has been an unprecedented few months in 2020 to say the least, but ScienceGrrl Glasgow have still been meeting for monthly catch-ups during the uncertainty. You can find the last few meeting minutes down below (you haven’t missed much). We hope everyone has been enjoying the online content we’ve been producing thus far during lockdown. As always, you can catch us on our social media across the board – @SciGrrlGlasgow or we have a Facebook group.

Schools

At the moment and until further notice we are unfortunately going to have to suspend school visits. This is not a decision we have taken lightly and we have been lucky to have some very lovely and understanding reactions from our funders in this situation.

However we’re all working hard to create distance learning content, online content and even another super secret project we’ll announce shortly. At the moment all the volunteers from ScienceGrrl and anyone at all are encouraged to send in some ideas for at home activities that we could collate and make available for free online. We have already had some creative and colourful submissions from Sara. Please do send these over whenever you have time.

Twitter Takeover

Our next note of business was to talk about online engagement. We have decided to allow a twitter takeover from a womxn in STEM every few weeks (or more often if they prove popular!). We’d love to share experiences from womxn in STEM all over the globe and where better than from their perspective themselves.

We’ve created a Google form to allow people to sign up for this takeover. Of course, if you would like to sign up, this is completely on your schedule therefore you can let us know when suits you best!

The form can be found here. Please do share this around. It would be a great support to us right now!

Blogging

You should see a few more blog posts hitting our website in the next few coming weeks. We have a list of topics, if anyone would like to write a guest blog please get in touch wherever you prefer (or by email – sciencegrrlglasgow@gmail.com). We are more than happy to give anyone a platform to create and showcase something!
