1, Remaining budget. We discussed how to spend the rest of our BCS grant money and as we still have plenty of stock for our #UnsungHeroines activity we thought we could put the money toward travel costs for volunteers to get to planned upcoming activities Midlothian Science Festival and MoSSFest this fall. We could also invest in some materials for another #UnsungHeroines activity based around Esther Lederberg – a new mock-up of her replica plating technique suggested by Sara.
2, What’s next? We will look into events during the summer – research summer camps around Glasgow as an alternative to GirlGuide groups and schools. Other than new opportunities like these the next ScienceGrrl Glasgow outings in the calendar are Midlothian Science Festival in October and MoSSFest at the end of September. We also thought it would be cool to have ScienceGrrl Glasgow represented at the Orkney Science Festival. Joanne suggested that ScienceGrrl members already going with for example the Polyomics unit could bring some materials.
