Family STEM night at Gavinburn Primary

This past Tuesday a team of three ScienceGrrl’s headed out from Glasgow to Old Kilpatrick to Gavinburn Primary School for their Family STEM night. We had a great time showing off our #UnsungHeroines chlorophyll chromatography activity up on stage and got a lot of facetime with both pupils and their families. It felt especially important for us to come and attend this event as Gavinburn Primary have previously had Women in STEM events to try and address the problem of fewer girls and women choosing a career in STEM as compared boys. By trying to get all their primary pupils exposed to fun STEM activities, information about careers and a variety of people with different backgrounds actually working in science they are hoping to showcase, just like us, that science really is for everyone. That is a message we are always happy to help reinforce!
