Present: Crystal, Lara, Carla, Sara, Gillian, Olof, Claire, Lise
1, Events. ScienceGrrl Glasgow are visiting the Bang Goes The Borders science festival this Saturday, bringing an old favourite activity and also unveiling a brand new extension all about genetics, taste and smell. The team will consist of Gillian, Carla, Isabel, Lara, Crystal and Lise.
Next up event-wise we are hoping to pair up with the Centre for Virus research PE team again to visit a bunch of Brownie and GirlGuide groups throughout the wider Glasgow area. Fingers crossed we can all get our badges!
Carla is also looking into the possibility of doing Curiosity Live at the Glasgow Science Centre.
2, Promotion. We have a dedicated gang of Glaswegian ScienceGrrls here but we’re always looking to expand – yesterday new member Lise (all the way from France!) attended her first meeting and on Saturday she will be attending her first event! Being a ScienceGrrl is great fun and we’d like to share that with as many people as possible, no matter their background, gender, occupation or age. We plan on trying to contact university societies and attending Refresher’s events to try and publicise our little group more – and if anyone has any other ideas they’re most welcome to help us out on our mission!
3, Feedback. Our group are always striving to come up with new cool activities to share with the public at events but we need to be better at collecting feedback on these activities – that will help us make them even more fantastic! We take sticker charts and post-its for comments to our events and for older attendees we like to bring quizzes (we even have prizes sometimes!). If anyone has any ideas of how we can collect more feedback or increase the use of our activity #UnsungHeroines online, please let us know.
The next meeting will be on Saturday Oct 20th at 6pm – Starbucks Byres Rd as always
